An experienced social justice activist who has worked with a range of different communities in the UK and Africa. My current professional focus is environmental justice, making the links between poverty, inequality and the environmental challenges facing marginalised communities, ensuring people with lived experience of these issues get their voices heard.The foundation of my professional work is designing and delivering processes that enable communities to understand the political, economic, social, and cultural systems impacting on their lives, and supporting the development of knowledge and skills to influence decision-makers and to develop community based solutions.I have significant experience of designing and facilitating capacity building processes. I have designed and delivered capacity building programmes including training materials and manuals on a range of subjects but with a focus on gender, human rights, environmental justice, poverty and inequality, systems analysis, social mapping, well-being and self-care, skills for social action design and active citizenship. This support has been delivered to a wide range of stakeholders including teachers, government departments, intergovernmental bodies, the UN and EU, civil society organisations, and grassroots community groups in the UK and Africa.I am a gender specialist and I have worked on women's and adolescent girls programming in Sierra Leone and I have provided technical assistance for adolescent girls programmes in Nigeria, Rwanda, Ethiopia ad the DRC. As a senior level manager, I have played a key role in strategy development and project design, providing support for the development of organisational strategic plans and new programme and project design including the development of fundraising bids. I also have significant experience of managing a team and developing processes to both support and manage staff.
