I caught fire healthcare. I always thought my dream was to be a speech language pathologist for a public hospital to provide high quality speech therapy services to more elderly and paediatric patients in China. It seemed like an appropriate dream given my BSc in SLP. I gravitated toward rehabilitation of severe dysphagia and aphasiaand even started my own healthcare business. But I kind of just felt meh. I'm well aware that this is not the life I want. I thirsted to learn more, thirsted to learn something different.And that's when it happened and changed; my father, my nearest and dearest, had passed away by acute myocardial infarction because of continuous surgical operations for patients. He is a famous, respected, great orthopaedic surgeon. The spark I was missing was instantly ignited. Since then, I realised that there were more important things that deserved and needed to be done by me. Physicians also need to be protected and have someone to stand behind them as a strong backing. This was my biggest motivation for crossing over from speech-language pathology to health economics.I enjoy exploring clinical issues and combining them with health economics. The health and well-being of healthcare workers impact job stress, burnout, economic costs, system efficiency, workplace improvement, disease prevention, mental health, and socio-economic costs. I am dedicated to providing research to improve working conditions and enhance healthcare efficiency.My specialties include proficiency in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), knowledge of the etiology, pathogenesis, pathological changes and clinical manifestations of a variety of diseases; clinical swallowing assessment, video fluoroscopic swallowing screening (VFSS) and fibreoptic endoscopic assessment, oral muscle training and strengthening, food texture adjustments and eating strategies, compensatory techniques and postural adjustments; artificial intelligence model selection, training and tuning; solving statistical problems using the R language. Quickly learning new skills for adapting the need of development. I am a multilingual and fluent in both Mandarin, Cantonese and Minnan (Taiwanese), which is my mother language. In addition, I remain passionate about being involved in the simulated participants programme and helping more medical students to continually improve their clinical skills.My fire for healthcare is driven by a deep desire to honor my father's legacy and protect the millions of dedicated healthcare workers like him.
