I was manager of the Business Analysis and Process Management department in addition to my usual responsibilities.

I joined with the challenge of being the first business analyst at VEH and needed to establish the role and added value that it brings to the organisation. My initial goal was forming a bridge between the business and IT departments.

Initially brought in to improve the requirements management and analysis capabailities of the company. My main role will be to advise clients to ensure that any developed software is in line with their business goals, and to challenge them to make sure their goals make sense within their strategy.

The majority of my time was spent creating functional specifications for a new interface between Documentum 4i and Microsoft Office. This was a new product so a lot of research and interviewing with UK law firms was needed to come up with the design and product road map. Given the newness of the product, around a third of my time was spent doing presales activities such as product demonstrations and implementation plans with potential clients.

Joining as part of the Graduate Development Program and progressing to the role of Commercial Associate, I consulted with clients on bespoke development of System 21 (an ERP application). I specialised in international companies within the electrical sector such as Panasonic and AIWA. My time with GEAC gave me my first experiences of requirements analysis, quality assurance, and business process re-engineering.

Between my bachelors and masters degrees, I taught English as a foreign language in a Hungarian primary school, working with children aged between 10 and 14 at the Joszef Atoly Iskola. When the school year finished in June I travelled to Croatia and taught at language camps for children in Croatia.
