I began practicing Urology in Orillia, Ontario. I was part of a two-person practice, that offered General Urology and 24/7 emergency services to Muskoka and North Simcoe county. Additional interests included clinical research and administration. I was involved in a number of clinical trials (most recently REDUCE and Denosumab trials), and served a 3 year term as Chief of Surgery. Following my administrative duties, I developed a keen interest in laparoscopy. At first, I began with on-site clinical preceptorships in conjunction with McMaster University. Subsequently I applied and was chosen for a fellowship in endourology and laparoscopy at the University of Toronto. During this time I performed advanced percutaneous procedures and minimally invasive surgery for the treatment of stone disease and genitourinary malignancies. I then moved to the Greater Toronto Area to pursue my clinical interests. I accepted a locum position at McMaster University and practiced minimally invasive surgery at the Juravinski Hospital. Part of my duties was teaching, and I found this to be a very rewarding experience. With encouragement from GFT staff, I applied for and received a teaching appointment as adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor. I remain affiliated with McMaster through my current positions at Joseph Brant Hospital and Halton Healthcare. I also continue to serve on committees at Cancer Care Ontario.Looking forward, I would like to continue my professional and teaching pursuits in the surgical treatment of advanced stone disease and laparoscopy where I feel that the need for these clinical services will continue to grow long into the future. Administration is still an interest, and I am looking at opportunities with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
