I was keen on doing qualitative research. At Switchtron I got the chance to do so. In my thesis, the question was how to get Switchtron from a product-orientated company to a more market-orientated firm. Switchtron had been a very technical company over the years, with main focus on product development. The next step for Switchtron was to focus on the customer, and adjust their innovative products to the customers wishes. In my research I discovered that the internal opinions on where to go (and how to get there) were much divided. In order to give clear advice, I started interviewing staff members and asked them which way they would (want to) go. Combining these results with the outcomes of my desk research (in market trends, disruptive trends, developments and more) helped me get a clear view on where Switchtron should go. The last step for me was to interview the customers to get to know what they think about the company (proposition), and to figure out what they would want to see different. This helped me define the right positioning for Switchtron. All the outcomes together have led to a clear step-plan for Switchtron. Show less
