Coordination of an industrial-academic R&D laboratory on the site of ILFORD Imaging Switzerland GmbH.Negotiation and preparation of a Joint Research Agreement between the EPFL and ILFORD Imaging Switzerland GmbH. Coordination of the research activities of a joint academic-industrial research group consisting of 2 PhD students, 2 post-docs, 1 engineer, 2 technical collaborators, and 5-8 industrial researchers (Project LOTFI). Responsible for an overall amount of external funding sources of 1’400 kCHF.

Work in the group of Prof. L. Zuppiroli.Coordination of the research activities on organic materials and devices for optics, photonics, and lighting. Focus on i) the tuning of the optical properties of photonic crystals by infiltration with organic molecules, ii) the study of light emission and extraction from light emitting organic devices, and iii) the study of functional organic-inorganic hybrid films for photonics, optics and lighting. Development of competences in polymer and organic materials science as well as in the physical-chemical and optical properties of fluorescent dyes, (nano)pigments and films. Thesis (Optical spectroscopy of antimonide compounds: from GaSb epitaxial layers to AlGaSb/GaSb quantum systems): study of the optical properties of III-V semiconductor materials for electronics and optoelectronics. Development of a solid background in materials science, solid-state physics, and optics. Focus on the theoretical and experimental study of the optical response of semiconductor multilayers. Development of an extensive knowledge of the main optical spectroscopy and microscopy techniques. Supervision of Bachelor/Master/Diploma students.Participation to several academic and industrial collaborations in the framework of different research projects of the National Institute for the Physics of Matter (INFM), now part of the italian National Research Council (CNR).
