I also help develop and implement strategic communications campaigns.- I was responsible for managing a number of client relationships.- I was responsible for the sustainability team's entire client portfolio, the team’s business development and marketing. Head of Lord Gardiner's Private Office, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of StateAccountable for the success of the office, and of the Department’s Ministerial work in the Lords. My work involved ensuring Lord Gardiner had access to all the information required for him to make timely decisions and consider wider implications of those decisions across the Department and Government. This involved providing accurate and astute advice and support to Lord Gardiner. I also developed the Minister’s objectives for each policy area and communicated these to the wider department.Line Management of the Assistant Private Secretary, Diary Secretary and Administrative Officer

Planning Defra’s contribution to the UK’s Presidency of the EU across all its policy areas – with particular focus on activity within the European Council and the European Parliament.

UKREP led UK engagement with the European Union, representing the UK to the institutions of the Union and negotiating the European legislation. In this role, I led the successful delivery of UK's objectives on EU environment negotiations ensuring that new legislation reflected HMG priorities both directly through business in Council (Working Groups, Coreper, Councils) and indirectly through influencing MEPs and stakeholders as well as influencing emerging policies being developed by the Commission on Circular Economy, Waste, Biodiversity and Climate including: Waste targets, Circular Economy Action Plan, 7th EAP, ABS, Market Stability Reserve, F-gases, Climate Change Adaptation, Trade in Seal Products.

▪Worked with other Member States to secure better outcomes on future EU water policy and on common implementation issues of the Water Framework Directive.▪Established a major new £30m three year funding mechanism for civil society to bring forward new local projects to improve water quality and managed a £18 million p.a. budget to help England meet its objectives under the Water Framework Directive.▪Headed up the secretariat for Defra's national Water Stakeholder Forum.

▪Secured improvements to sustainable development delivery at the local and regional level in England working through regional and local partners.▪Delivered better environmental performance in the staging of the Olympic Games in London through challenging delivery partners and ensuring the 2012 Games could inspire people to live sustainably.▪Line Management of a Higher Executive Officer.
