Reviewing and analysing safety performance of the Fleet, consisting of Dry cargo vessels, Wet cargo vessels and Passenger vessels;Monitoring and analysing safety key performance indicators; Presenting the safety performance during Management Review Meetings;Maintaining and encouraging a robust safety culture as well as environmental awareness within the Company; Conducting and/or participating in accident investigation; Reviewing and monitoring follow-up of incidents and hazardous occurrences; Identify trends or issues which require additional follow-up; Directing and supervising of safety team members.

Ensuring that Internal and External ISO/ISM Audits on the Fleet (180-200 vessels) were conducted within the time-frame;Leading/managing 4 roving auditors from different nationalities around the world;Monitor vessels movements;Monitoring implementation of corrective actions on Non Conformities;Liaise closely with Operations, Vetting dept. and Classification Societies;Developed and established a work process and improvement tools;Reduced the amount of overdue vessels from 6 to 0.

Reviewing and follow up on incidents occurring on all vessels under full management;Making quarterly, half yearly and yearly figures, statistics and graphics regarding personal injuries, accidents and near misses;Participating in incident investigation and monitor follow up;Participating in Risk Assessment and Risk Management activities;Designed and made a Quarterly Magazine with Safety, Environmental and Quality related content;Briefing Shipboard Officers regarding Safety Management System and all other QA related issues. Internal ISM, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 Auditor.

Rotterdam Area, Netherlands

Responsible for the content management of an online maritime knowledge system. Contributed to the development of this system and giving presentations, training and instructions;Participation in projects concerning information management e.g. setting up a method to store and retrieve international (IMO, EG) meeting documents and internal documents (meeting instructions, reports etc.) and writing procedures to monitor the information flow;Active member of an international EMSA-project to develop RuleCheck, an online Port State Control System;Arranging that auditors were provided and instructed of new legislation. Working with and supporting policy advisors, auditors, database managers and ICT employees;Informing stakeholders regarding the implementation of Regulation (EC) 336/2006 (implementation of ISM).

Responsible for the development and maintenance of a Maritime Legislation Knowledge System;Proposing improvements to the system. Instructing, supporting and facilitating (new) users;Teamleader of employees hired to fill the database of this system;Maintaining intra- and internet websites.

Sea

All deck and nautical activities on coasters. With a minimum of crew members it was expected to jump in where ever required. From cooking to cleaning/overhauling of engineering equipment. The focus however was on deck and bridge. Learnt to work in a team and independently.
