Created an IoT system for Whirlpool Appliances as a contractor through the Big Nerd Ranch. This project was an iPhone app and web app providing remote control and monitoring of household appliances. Additionally, the project involved creation of a server side gateway which provided client app authentication, while aggregating services from energy providers.

I was one of the first six employees at a startup building an open source music player based on the Mozilla platform. I wrote and maintained all the server-side services including the app update system, the localization system, and the add-ons hosting site. I hired additional engineers and systems administrators, as well as managed the server.

I created mobile phone demo applications and infrastructure at a research lab in the era before the iPhone, Google Maps and 3G/LTE. Most of these applications involved mapping and geofencing based on cell tower positions. In addition, I worked on internal tools to support team collaboration. The code was mostly J2ME on the phones and Python on the server.

I worked on proof of concept systems related to using mobile phones as authentication tokens for emergency room records systems. I was responsible for prototyping ideas for a team of doctors and medical informatics PhDs. Wrote server-side code in Java and Python and client side code in J2ME.
