As the visionary founder of Elendu Textiles & Malvadon, I am at the forefront of revolutionizing the textile recycling industry in the Midwest. With a strong foundation in computer science from Minnesota State University Moorhead, I've leveraged my analytical skills and passion for sustainability to establish the only regional textile recycling facility within a four-hour radius of Moorhead.My journey began in Togo, West Africa, where I gained invaluable experience working in my father's textile recycling facility. This early exposure instilled in me a deep commitment to environmental preservation and the circular economy. In 2017, I took a leap of faith and founded Elendu Textiles in Fargo, overcoming initial challenges such as educating the community about textile recycling and navigating supply reductions during the COVID-19 pandemic.Today, both companies are a testament to persistence and innovation, having diverted more than 9 million pounds of textiles from landfills, equivalent to keeping 360 school buses or over 9,000 vehicles off the road. Our facility processes overstock from second-hand stores, transforming them into bales shipped worldwide, significantly reducing environmental impact.As an advocate for sustainability, I am committed to raising awareness about the importance of recycling and actively seek opportunities to speak to regional organizations and classrooms.
