Deployment Leader, Carrier Networks – Global Operations (2005-2009)Successfully transitioned into a new technology, market, and customers with this role directing the 65-member Southeast Deployment Services Regional Team in deployment/integration of wireless technologies and solutions. Challenged to establish process adherence and infuse procedural/performance discipline into a still-developing business while managing customer, cost, cash, and compliance. Directed the hiring, training, and performance of a team of 60+, driving the customer experience through astute allocation of branded/certified skilled resources.

Senior Operations Manager – Global Operations (2001-2005)In the wake of geographic realignment stemming from unbridled growth in the optical/carrier markets, moved into this role overseeing installation/commissioning of carrier/optical equipment for BellSouth and other Southeastern Regional Service Providers. Led 28-member team in solutions deployment, with accountability for schedules, cost control, customer satisfaction, and quality. Oversaw hiring, training, development, performance, and downsizing.

Directed engineering/deployment of wireline Digital Multiplex Systems (DMS) solutions for Regional Bell Operating Company (BellSouth) across North and South Carolina, with end-to-end project oversight and accountability. Role expanded with influx of new business to include Kentucky and Tennessee; doubled team size to 66, leading accelerated development/implementation of training to support explosive team growth.

Advanced beyond early roles as Network Technician and Project Supervisor to this position developing tools, processes, and personnel to fulfill staffing/operational requirements for multi-million dollar DMS imple­menta­tion projects. Directed the training, development, and performance of 30+ field technicians, managing re­sources during a pivotal time in the company’s transition from a regional business model to one focused on the customer.

Taught Junior/Senior High School in Henry County (GA) before embarking on a six-year tour of service in the U.S. Navy, which culminated in honorable discharge at the rank of First Class Petty Officer. Began telecommunications career as an Installation and Repair Technician with Statesboro Telephone Company, moving through positions of increasing responsibility before joining Nortel in 1987.
