At home in California I mostly kick back, which is apparently the reason why the US disability lifestyle magazine New Mobility named me "Person of the Year" for 2009.Academic work includes guest editing the Travel & Disability issue of the journal Review of Disability Studies and contributions to the journals such as Disability Studies, Design for All India, proceedings of the Carlo Besta Neurological Institute, and Study of Current Rehabilitation (Japan).Non-Profit & Education ManagementFollowing years of direct service in the non-profit field I directed a co-curricular program on social justice education at Santa Clara University, directed University Ministry at Benedictine University, managed Computer-Assisted Education for Eden Housing, and directed Programs & Services for SeniorNet. I served as a fellow at Benetech. I am a Fellow of the Zero Divide Foundation, the Graduate Theological Foundation.My work as an educator has involved elementary students to seniors - usually with innovative pilot programs designed to test a concept, a model, or scalablity.Specialties: universal design, policy development, non-profit management, fundraising, and program design, technology education for underserved populationsresearch, speaking, and writing on the adoption of Universal Design by the worldwide travel & hospitality industry.
