The MICF launched 11 competitive rounds of funding targeting: agriculture and agribusiness, manufacturing, logistics, irrigation, SME finance and tourism.A first of its kind funding instrument designed to catalyze innovation in the private sector in order to deliver benefits to the poor. As Grants Manager my role included:Marketing of the challenge fund: Support the finalization of subsequent rounds of the MICF and the criteria for bid assessment for each new window of the MICF; assist the MICF team to generate a pipeline of projects sufficient to ensure real competition for the funds and the opportunity for all funds to be disbursed to deserving projects; and provide assistance in the review of concept notes and full proposals against the MICF’s objectives and eligibility criteria, and present results to the investment panel. Private Sector Engagement: conducting business feasibility studies for MICF potential grantees – including due diligence reporting to inform selection of MICF portifolio; undertake project management activities for MICF portfolio – including conducting baseline surveys, midterm evaluation & endline surveys; working with UNDP’s Finance team in collaboration to support the processing of financial claims and providing support in exercising financial control over the expenditure of MICF grants; working with the grantees to complete milestone reports. Reporting: Ensuring reports are submitted on time and reviewing reports submitted by the MICF grantees; work with the team leader to provide a quarterly aggregated risk profile of the entire MICF portfolio to facilitate monitoring to be share with UNDP and DFID as well as other funding donors for subsequent rounds. -
