I develop and execute the company’s business strategies to attain short-, medium- and long-term goals. I also provide oversight to the company's business operations and financial performance. To ensure maximum performance among teams, I motivate Team Leads and support building teams.I take a lead in delivery of Business Development Services (BDS) and investment facilitation for SMEs; designing and conducting research for profit making and not-for-profit organizations; providing project management services including – baseline research, mid-term evaluation, end of term evaluation & impact evaluation; providing a strategic direction for Research Project Management and Business Development Departments.

Working with the Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Services (MAS) Advisory Team to support IFC clients implementing advisory projects that complement IFC investments. This also includes project management roles such as - facilitating baseline and Endline surveys; implementation of advisory activities such as financial literacy training and Agribusiness Leadership Programs (ALP) for producer Organisations; and semi annual reporting for IFC.

The Commercial Agriculture for Smallholders and Agribusiness (CASA) Programme is the FCDO's agriculture flagship programme which aims to make the commercial and development case for investing in agribusinesses that source produce from smallholders. CASA bridges evidence gaps to ensure that investors and policymakers have access to the right information and people to make inclusive agribusiness models succeed.As a Malawi’s Market Manager my key roles were:Strategic Oversight - Ensuring that interventions under the Malawi portfolio adhere to the overall strategy of CASA; Proactively monitor overall progress of the portfolio, adjusting intervention strategies and partnership plans where required; and Ensure the Malawi portfolio delivers good results and Value for Money (VfM); Managing Consultant and Co-facilitator Delivery - Development of ToRs for Short Term Technical Experts and Co-facilitators; Quality control on consultant and co-facilitator inputs and outputs and providing feedback to the Intervention Manager on their performance; Project Planning - Lead Market Systems Analysis and identify entry points for interventions; Preparation and management of sectoral intervention budgets together with the Country Manager and Programme Manager; Reporting and Administration- Regular provision of the Malawi Portfolio’s information/data to the rest of the CASA team, including through Bi-Weekly and Quarterly Progress Reports amongst others.

The MICF was established in 2014, supported by the United Nations Development Programme, the International Fund for Agricultural Development, the Royal Norwegian Embassy, Federal Republic of Germany through KfW and the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office. The MICF launched 11 competitive rounds of funding targeting: agriculture and agribusiness, manufacturing, logistics, irrigation, SME finance and tourism.A first of its kind funding instrument designed to catalyze innovation in the private sector in order to deliver benefits to the poor. As Grants Manager my role included:Marketing of the challenge fund: Support the finalization of subsequent rounds of the MICF and the criteria for bid assessment for each new window of the MICF; assist the MICF team to generate a pipeline of projects sufficient to ensure real competition for the funds and the opportunity for all funds to be disbursed to deserving projects; and provide assistance in the review of concept notes and full proposals against the MICF’s objectives and eligibility criteria, and present results to the investment panel. Private Sector Engagement: conducting business feasibility studies for MICF potential grantees – including due diligence reporting to inform selection of MICF portifolio; undertake project management activities for MICF portfolio – including conducting baseline surveys, midterm evaluation & endline surveys; working with UNDP’s Finance team in collaboration to support the processing of financial claims and providing support in exercising financial control over the expenditure of MICF grants; working with the grantees to complete milestone reports. Reporting: Ensuring reports are submitted on time and reviewing reports submitted by the MICF grantees; work with the team leader to provide a quarterly aggregated risk profile of the entire MICF portfolio to facilitate monitoring to be share with UNDP and DFID as well as other funding donors for subsequent rounds.

African Institute of Corporate Citizenship is a non-governmental organization whose main mandate is to promote the role of business in development. One of AICC’s broad objectives it to achieve responsible growth and competitiveness throughout Africa by ensuring that enterprises, as good citizens, change the way they do business in a way which benefits people, the economy and the environment.Key Responsibilities : Coordinating all market access programmes; undertake assessments of existing constraints, opportunities and potentials for both on-going and prospective value chain enterprise to identify suitable activities for commodities production, agribusiness and enterprise development; take lead in advising and undertaking interventions to improve coordinated linkages between farmers, processors, retailers and other value chain actors; coordinate programme development and resource mobilization activities within AICC; Promote enterprise and business partnerships that have promise and facilitate technical and advisory input in research, technology or marketing; Work with platform managers in identifying value chain constraints relating to marketing and access to farmers and make recommendations for addressing the bottlenecks. Played a key role in the establishment of innovative commodity platforms - Cotton, Legumes and Rice. This included transitioning from commodity platforms to independent trusts i.e.Cotton Development Trust; Legumes Development Trust and National Rice Development Trust.

Worked on VSO's Secure Livelihoods Programme - Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) Programme .Key responsibilities: Program Development-Plan, implement and monitor Market Development program activities with partner organizations in line with the Programme Area strategic aims and objectives; Volunteer and Staff Support- work with the program team to design, organize and assist in facilitation of training programs for VSO staff, partners and volunteers; Financial Control, Networking and Advocacy – Support advocacy initiatives for VSO Malawi, partner organization and Market Development Networks and share the learning and outcomes with the region and VSO international.

I worked on a Private Sector Development Project called Malawi Agrodealer Strengtherning Programme (MASP) in both M&E section and headed Output Marketing Department.
