The investment process I have been exposed to involves the following major steps:1.Deal Sourcing: Identification of investment opportunities through sector specific screening, valuation, industry analysis and conducting channel checks.2. Deal Execution: Purchasing and exiting securities in various financial markets across the African continent.3.Portfolio Review: Conducting weekly portfolio reviews for existing positions with the aim of optimizing the various portfolios.4.Asset review: Regularly reviewing the various securities we have invested in to determine whether the investment thesis is still valid.5.Networking with experts: Cultivating relationships with sector experts including sell side analyst, management teams, government officials and ordinary businessmen and women in the real economy.
