About Romain Moret
As an experienced Software Engineer with a strong focus in C++/Python and a proven track record in the System/Audio/Media/Gaming industries, my main interests reside in using state-of-the-art development practices to bring quality and innovation through software tools and products.Throughout my professional life I've been able to deliver through various experiences such as: going live with multiple instances of what is now recognized as an industry standard in its field: MS Flight Simulator and its Marketplace Contents and its DRM protection, or before that Slate Digital software copy protection implementation.Prior to that, I had the opportunity to be a valuable player in in the conception, development and deployment of software tools that empower digital creation, while providing the technical and structural context for technical teams to make it happen, grow on, and ultimately build the underlying know-how and the practical and operational development skills.Learning new things every day and doing better each time is what really drives me. I am not afraid of the blank page, even though I also love diving into the full book!
Listed skills include C++, Software Engineering, Audio Processing, Software Development, and 41 others.

Senior R&D Software Engineer
CurrentI joined the team in charge of software products for Two-notes Audio Engineering, a brand focused on providing audio tools for guitar and bass players. My mission involves the integration of audio processing algorithms, the development and maintenance of audio plugins, firmware and mobile applications, as well as the maintenance and evolution of our CI/CD and cloud based infrastructures.I also oversee embedded systems development for existing and future products for both the Two-notes brand and external manufacturing partners.
Senior Software Platform And Systems Engineer
At Trinnov, my main mission is to develop software solutions for licensing and copy protection within our custom operating system and software ecosystem. This covers local encryption, server-client-machine secured data exchanges, as well as creating and maintaining the various tools, SDKs and APIs for production environments and client applications (web/mobile/desktop).I also participate to audio R&D developments tasks, such as ASRC implementation and multi-rate audio streams synchronization.
Associate Lead Engine & Content Delivery Programmer
Upon joining the Microsoft Flight Simulator dev team, my first mission was to investigate new solutions around 3D photogrammetry processing pipelines for the sim.I gradually became involved in the implementation of DRM and content protection solutions for the project, with the goal of guaranteeing security and performance within the Flight Simulator ecosystem. In 2021, my mission was to implement the tooling for porting all our content delivery systems from PC to Xbox, and allow third-party developers to port and ship their content on Xbox, without being personally involved in console development. In 2022, I moved on to a lead position, in charge of the content delivery and marketplace dev team. Our main challenges were to make all of our previous efforts available on the Xbox Cloud Gaming platform, while shaping the future and long-term vision of content delivery for the Flight Simulator ecosystem.
R&D/Engine Programmer - Microsoft Flight Simulator
Head Of Software Development
My mission at Eiosis and Slate Digital was to rebuild the software development and technical environments, make them future proof, while porting existing products and working on new releases over the years. This includes new source-control, CI/CD and delivery infrastructures, new processes and workflows, new C++ based framework, and porting existing products and tools into this new environment while ensuring continuity in their audio and functional behavior.I also worked on several audio analysis/metering/algorithm design tools, that were used internally throughout the entire product design and development stages. In addition to that, my mission also included: technological watch, hiring, dealing with French/European innovation programs (CIRI, H2020), intellectual property (trademark/patents), trade shows/demos technical planning and attending (NAMM, AES, MusikMesse).
R&D Project Manager
I joined the Slate Digital team when I joined Eiosis in 2012.Slate Digital is a LA based company, co-founded by Eiosis CEO, Eiosis has an integrated development team that is in charge of creating Slate Digital products. My first year was mainly spent on rebuilding the shared software development environment from scratch. For the Slate Digital side, that involved a lot of interaction with the LA team in order to define future product development and support workflows.Later on, I worked on Slate Digital products, as a software architect and principal developer, products including the Virtual Tape Machines, the Virtual Buss Compressors, and the Virtual Mix Rack, which is the current software platform for which Slate Digital releases most of its new software products. Those products, along with the previous releases that created a solid reputation for the Slate Digital brand, have been the cornerstone that turned Slate Digital into one of today's industry leader when it comes to audio plugins.
Lead Software Engineer
As a team lead in charge of an ambitious long term R&D project, I took part in the conception, definition and development of the software components of a complete ecosystem: desktop/embedded software tools, drivers, innovation, research, digital acoustics, reverse engineering. The goal of the project was to create building blocks for a complete ecosystem that revolved around room acoustics capture and virtualization, binauralization, head-tracking and headphones reproduction.A really good opportunity to dive into latest C++ standards, UI development, audio drivers architectures, BTLE, RTOS, as well as prototyping environments in Python and embedded systems.
R&D Project Manager
I worked as a project lead for "rekordbox", a media management software, initially developed by MixVibes for Pioneer, and that is shipped as a companion application with all Pioneer Professional DJ equipments. My mission included: specifications writing, interactions with Pioneer product teams in Japan, feature design and architecture, small team management, bug-tracking and support management.
R&D Developer
I joined MixVibes in 2010, as a software developer, to reinforce the "rekordbox" team, but also to participate in MixVibes products development.I joined the team as a developer, then I quickly evolved into project lead.I also used my audio expertise to participate to some audio related developments for MixVibes internal tools or products (audio FX prototyping, overall audio quality/performance improvements etc.).
Developer
I joined White Birds Productions in 2009 as a junior developer, for the PlayAll consortium.I wasn't working directly on White Birds Productions game titles, but instead I participated to the development of the PlayAll game engine and tools suite, as a member of the audio team.
Audio Developer
PlayAll was a consortium of five independent game studios, that aimed to develop a full game engine and production tools suite for independent game developers and studios.I was one of the 35 members development team, more specifically I joined the audio team, and collaborated to the development of the audio side of the game engine and tools, as well as their integration within the other game engines and tools (physics, animation etc.).Among other things, this experience taught me a lot about professional software development, team collaboration, gaming industry, and of course strong and efficient C++.I had a great opportunity to work and learn from a team of experts in the gaming industry, and this work experience really reinforced my taste for C++ software development.
Junior Software Engineer
During this 7 months internship, I was in charge of developing a network extension for the open-source Jack Audio Server. This was a great opportunity to learn about how collaborative software is made. I also learned a lot about C++, and I had the opportunity to exchange with some of the experts within the open-source community. But most importantly, this experience taught me I could tie two passions: audio/media, and looking under the hood to create, fix or improve things. And it also gave me a direction to follow.
