Managing Director of Cardinal Ventures (CV), which is a non-profit startup accelerator of the Stanford Student Enterprise. CV runs a 9 week accelerator program for Stanford student founded startups and has raised over $85mn in funding. I, along with my co-Managing Director, am responsible for leading a team of 6 VPs in creating a 9 week program tailor made to the specific needs of our founders, and ensuring they receive mentorship and the requisite business, legal and financial skills and knowledge required to run a startup from conceptualization to execution. In addition, as Managing Director, I am responsible for the internal business development of the accelerator and implementing procedures in line with our vision and mission statement, values, and KPIs.

Practiced as a litigator and adviser in general commercial law, specializing in company law and corporate governance, securities litigation, government securities regulations, public procurement litigation, insurance, construction, and IP disputes relating to undisclosed information and trade secrets litigation. I represent clients in the Commercial High Court, Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka and in Presidential Commissions of Inquiry. I also have extensive experience working with regulators, such as the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka and also appearing against regulators, including the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. Clients have included top blue chip companies in Sri Lanka as well as leading private businesses.

Research Assistant to Justice Saleem Marsoof, the leading draftsman in the reform initiative by the Sri Lankan Securities and Exchange Commission to draft the new Takeovers and Mergers Code. The current code addresses many of the failings of the previous code with a focus on increasing transparency and shareholder protection. The draftsman have extensively considered the codes and principles of comparative jurisdictions in the region and the UK.
