I evaluated open source software, which flowed in the development of the new infrastructure forthe company. This new system in the Google Cloud, unlike the legacy systems, can serve morethan a thousand IoT devices. The core is Kafka, a message broker that is ideal for connectingmicroservices. Also it enables to add different data sources aggregating and transforming them. Todo this, I implemented several microservices prototypes for new products. In addition, I plannedthe migration of the old systems in several steps in order to switch the productive system withoutinterruption. I’ve also set up Spinnaker to manage and monitor the entire deployment at variousstages, which can easily and quickly used by developers and project managers with different roles.The goal was to make the organization and development more structured and agile. Another student and me were extensively refactoring and improving a company intern used software which is utilized to monitor project budgets and provide evidence of performance. The architectural transformation included the almost the whole code base, all JUnit Tests and relevant documentation to a clean and sustainable project that is easily testable. Some Technologies were completely replaced like the Object-relational mapper eBeans by JooQ and others lifted to the newest Version. That concerned Java to update to version 8, Play Framework from 2.3 to 2.6.X. After the work was done the software improved highly in stability and performance. In addition I worked in the quality assurance and development of a fast growing customer project.
