About Romana Dalgleish

Director of Curriculum and Assessment at Suzanne Cory High School, the select-entry school for high ability learners in Melbourne's outer-west. In 2023 and 2024 I am leading our evaluation and redesign of school curriculum and assessment practices, in line with student and teacher shared understanding of best practice for high ability learners. As a Teach to Lead Fellow and alumna of the Teach for Australia Leadership Development program I have a demonstrated commitment to disrupting cycles of disadvantage in under-represented schools. I am passionate about professional development for registered, pre-registered and pre-service teachers and the vital role it plays in improving teacher quality and retention, especially in hard-to-staff schools. I represented Australia at the 2018 Teach for All Global Summit in London sharing my research and practice of building student agency through storytelling. There I delivered a workshop on building narratives of difference through personal nonfiction writing to teachers from around the world. I have presented at creative writing conferences and spoken at LGBTI events regarding queerness, teaching and mentorship. My poetry and academic writing has been published and I have written for industry, community and entertainment publications.
