Conduct researches related to abaca production and culture with emphasis on Integrated Nutrient Management (INM); Prepared and conceptualize proposals related to soil fertility, soil quality and health, plant nutrition, land-use, nutrient management and other issues related to crop production and management; Teaches courses on basic soil science, plant physiology, and experimental design and field plot techniques; Advisement of student thesis related to abaca production and culture

Tried to investigate the following research questions: (1) Are there any changes in the biochemical properties of the soils grown to abaca that are infected by bunchy top disease relative to healthy abaca stands in East-central Philippines? (2) Are there any differences in the soil biochemical properties in the rhizosphere and non-rhizophere zones between infected and healthy abaca sites? (3) Are there any relationships between the soil biochemical properties, nutrient uptake and abaca biomass? and (4) What will be the possible interventions that can be drawn from the output generated from this particular investigation? These particular research questions will be carried through soil and plant tissue analysis of the samples collected (paired sampling) from the provinces of Leyte, Southern Leyte, Biliran and Northern Samar in the Eastern Visayas Region and Catanduanes in the Bicol Region.
