I am working on turning my vision of having a robust and impactful tour company into reality and develop my life long career as a successful tour and travel operator and community development professional.My vision is backed up by my internship, voluntary work, in-depth research on community development and wildlife conservation and various industrial trainings in hospitality services and tours operations. Sacred Gem Safaris is a professional tour and travel company in the pipeline which is aimed at providing some of the best travel services in East Africa, while also fostering development and human rights protection in the various communities in which the company shall operate. This is because as an individual, i believe that the best way of ensuring growth as a company is by creating a positive impact on the lives of people while also ensuring the comfortability of the customers who choose to travel with you.This impact is achieved through various programs such as women growth groups, skilling and educating minority groups on income generation, child education programs, wildlife conservation initiatives and key population human rights initiatives which are to be implemented through partnerships with humanitarian organizations.

I got the chance to work in Murchison Falls National Park, one of Uganda’s tourism hotspots as part of my major in tours and travels where i worked as a researcher in various areas as explained below.While in the park, i worked as a researcher and endeavored to collect various data and resources on various aspects and systems that could-exist in this vibrant protected area. These systems include wildlife conservation, hospitality facilities, community engagement and park administration from which i gained various knowledge that boosted my ability to serve in the tours and travel industry.My most valuable skill from my research in the national park was community engagement and outreach, where i worked in the various communities that surround the park for a period of 2 weeks and interacted with their residents on a personal level to understand their livelihoods on how they have benefited from the park, their challenges and i used this to come up with suggestions on how tourism in the park can be used to foster development in its neighboring communities.On a larger scale, this research and training enabled me to learn how tourism and humanities can be linked, and how tourism in developing countries such as Uganda can be integrated into human rights protection and foster development of key populations and minority groups, which i am working on putting into practice with my tour company.

I was a intern at one of the most established tour and travel companies in Uganda, that operates in many other African countries such as Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Namibia and Botswana, where i had a hands on training in Marketing skills, tour and travel planning, website management, booking and ticketing, teamwork and communication.From this experience i achieved many skills that are core to the tour and travel sector, as well as met some established persons in Uganda’s tourism sector which have enabled me to become set on my path to becoming a successful tour and travel operator.

During my industrial training at Royal Suites Hotel, a well established four star hotel in the capital of Uganda, i got first class experience in serving people from various backgrounds and traditions in a hotel setting where i worked in the waiting department, room service, front desk and the kitchen for a period of 7 days at each station. During my training i gathered in depth knowledge about how to serve people and ensure their satisfaction, as well as knowledge on how to handle different situations where customers express their dissatisfaction and dissolve the issue without letting it elevate. I gained this through serving as a waiter and receptionist at the hotel’s front desk.These skills gained from my training, backed up by my academic studies in the sciences of tourism make me a prime candidate for working with and serving people in all scenarios that encircle hospitality such as hotel management, airline hosting, bar and resorts supervision and other hospitality operations.
