Project Support Officer
Current- Understanding the health inequalities affecting Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Migrants and working in partnership with external and internal organisations such as Coventry Refugee and Migrant Centre, Adult Education and Positive Youth Foundation.- Working on the Vulnerable Peoples Refugees programme and the Afghan Relocation Assistance Programme - Planning for the arrival of Refugee families coming from Middle Eastern countries such as Afghanistan, Syria, and Iraq.- I have organised the 10-week Induction Programme which consists of Information & Guidance Sessions, ESOL Support, Social Integration, and Employment & Volunteering Support. Different Service providers are invited to deliver a session about their services such as Housing, DWP Benefits, and GP services for our newly arrived families. - At the end of the 10-week Induction Programme I carry out an evaluation of the scheme to identify what has worked well and how we can make improvements to the scheme. -Assisting wider team events which raise awareness of the Migration population and their contribution to the community.- I have set up, recruited, delivered training and managed the Migration Volunteer Co-ordinator Scheme placing our newly trained volunteers within the Migration team projects. - identifying the needs of the clients and helping them access the right support. - having regular 121s with partners to make sure that we are working well together and getting updates on the support being provided to our clients and identifying any barriers that they may be facing.
