Dr. Romina Carrillo Gutierrez joined New Visions for Public Schools in 2005. She provides coaching in data-based decision making, instructional leadership and professional development across 70 NVPS Affinity schools in NYC's five boroughs. She previously served as deputy network leader for the Bronx Network and director of the New Century High Schools Initiative. Prior to joining New Visions, Romina was Policy Director at Boston Plan for Excellence in Education in partnership with the Boston Public Schools. She has over 15 years' experience as a bilingual teacher, teacher trainer and eventually assistant superintendent in urban school districts in California--San Diego, San Francisco and Oakland, respectively. She also taught teacher education and educational leadership coursework in degree programs at Hunter College, Brown University, Mills College and Harvard University. She holds an Ed.D. from Harvard University.Romina is a native Californian from Calexico CA. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.
