About Romy Block
I’m a Toronto-based artist, designer, photographer and maker. I have a B.F.A. in Painting and Drawing from OCAD University and I studied Graphic Design at George Brown College.As an artist, I enjoy exploring colour and light in the creation of semi-abstract paintings. I also have a fascination for the macabre and morphology as it relates to creature creation.As a designer, I’m interested in exploring the subtle ways design influences how we feel or the choices we make as consumers.I'm currently employed as the in-house Senior Graphic Designer at the Miles Nadal JCC, a cultural hub in downtown Toronto and an organization at the forefront for accessibility and inclusion in this city. In my spare time I continue to work on personal projects and as a freelance designer, artist and photographer.I’m never happier than when I’m making something.

The Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre (MNjcc) is a cultural hub in downtown Toronto, a cornerstone in the Annex community, and a member of the Bloor Street Cultural Corridor.As the Miles Nadal JCC has continued to expand and grow, so have our marketing needs. In my capacity as Senior Graphic Designer my responsibilities include centre-wide marketing campaigns and strategic development in regards to our brand. In addition I create varied marketing collateral for multiple departments for both print and web, create our bi-annual program guide, write copy, organize photo shoots and often act as photographer, manage a complex schedule and multiple simultaneous projects with short deadlines, collaborate with programmers and work closely with the other members of my team.
