As a part of a team of three designers, we started a project to develop a sandfly trap to reduce the vectors spreading of the leishmaniasis parasite in Kenya. By connecting stakeholders, understanding their needs and designing some first sandfly trap prototypes, we have given the first impetus to protect the local population in Kenya against the sandflies and therefore the leishmaniasis parasite. Leishmaniasis is a neglected tropical disease that causes around 70,000 deaths each year.
Ux Designer - Mika, The Selfie-Robot
Together with five other students, we designed Mika, the selfie-robot. This robot was designed for commercial purposes for Winterfestival Delft. The robot was able to communicate with the audience, move his arm to take a selfie and share the picture. The robot was exhibited in the Kunsthal in Rotterdam at Museum Night and at the International Festival of Technology (IFOT). At this moment, Mika can still be found at Het Prinsenhof in Delft.
