I work with 4 storage teams covering 5 functional environments and became a trusted advisor and knowledge resource for all Netapp solutions deployed at Oracle Health (Cerner) such as Netapp Ontap, Ontap Select, SnapMirror, StorageGrid, ActiveIQ Unified Manager, and WorkFlow Automation. Oracle Health (Cerner) has over 100 Ontap clusters spread across the globe in 15 enterprise data centers in 7 different countries. To accomplish most projects and initiatives in this environment, I leverage scripting and automation with the primary scripting platform being PowerShell and secondary being Python. I trained and mentored several of the storage team members to further grow their IT knowledge and experience in not only Netapp technologies but foundations of networking as well.

I returned to Children’s Mercy Hospital in the role of Core Infrastructure Architect. In this role I was responsible for transforming the legacy on premise infrastructure and building out of a new Datacenter and Business Continuity plan. This included a hybrid cloud model leveraging Microsoft Azure as our cloud partner of choice. I also worked in conjunction with the senior leadership in planning and implementing the technical architecture, including short and long term strategies for integrating existing systems and new system implementations.

Worked with the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) Lab team as a trusted advisor. Rapidly adapting to a highly technical engineering department and provided experienced and expert guidance toward transforming and modernizing their IT infrastructure. Trained and mentored primary IT resources while focusing on Netapp storage, Cisco Nexus switches including FCoe, VMware vSphere, and IBM PureFlex Blade System. Achieved two new certifications (Netapp Hybrid Cloud Administrator, and Netapp NCIE-Data Protection) and renewed one existing certification (Netapp NCIE-ONTAP SAN).

Promoted multiple times, ultimately landing in a newly created position focused on making improvements to the infrastructure and delivering the technical oversight for all the networks, servers, storage and virtualization hosts. Direct the infrastructure strategy for a 10,000 user multisite enterprise while leading a multidisciplined team. Work in conjunction with the CIO in planning and implementing the technical architecture, including short and long term strategies for retiring certain legacy systems, integrating existing systems and new system implementations.Major Accomplishments: IT Project Execution: Managed total application and system architecture and technical environment, integrating application needs and technology trends with appropriate infrastructure and software capabilities.- Planned and implemented a large Netapp HCI infrastructure consisting of 42 Compute nodes and 14 Storage nodes for a 4000 VM VMWare Horizon VDI deployment.- Planned, orchestrated, and executed a large Netapp storage upgrade/migration consisting of ~600TB of data in 245 volumes across 10 separate clusters in 8 weeks with no unplanned business downtime.- Architected, implemented and managed a Virtual Infrastructure consisting of 54 hosts and 1,100 guests. - Managed 500% growth of supported and installed systems with only two additional employees.- Orchestrated several SAN replacements, several complete VMWare upgrades and a new perimeter redesign. - Designed, implemented, and migrated to an agile and flexible blade-based infrastructure (FlexPOD). - Led a complete update/replacement of fiber channel infrastructure and FCoE implementation.- Developed and deployed various scripting technologies to automate tasks saving valuable man hours. Risk Mitigation: Thought beyond the risks of today and those related to immediate activities, looking at risks associated with emerging technologies, capabilities and activities that could drive risks not managed previously.

Leader in the automotive parts industry, providing restoration, maintenance and customization parts services.; Recruited to oversee all day-to-day IT operations, driving the IT strategy, deliverables, methodologies and processesto achieve network and communications objectives and provide "world class" service at all times. Led a small IT staffto provide the technical and project leadership to ensure the network engineering, software services, softwarelicensing and budgeting for all of IT to achieve optimal uptime and efficiency.Major Accomplishments: IT Planning & Strategy: Provided direction to ensure users across the organization and business areas understoodthe architectural options and technology choices to create a safer, more cost-effective network infrastructure.- Implemented a new modernized backup and restoration environment reducing backup windows by 12 hoursand implemented live replication to offsite recovery center greatly improving the recovery point whilesignificantly reducing the manual effort.- Updated and brought in newer technology and refreshed most core components in their environment.- Integrated a full SAN replacement and migrated all data with no downtime or negative customer impact.This was completed for less than 2years of support cost on the old SAN.- Brought VMWare into the environment and performed a server refresh for all servers. Technical Project Leadership: Delivered mission-critical project management and troubleshooting for thecompany’s internal systems; support was critical in reducing downtime and optimizing back-end efficiency.
