• Provide project leadership for the conduct of government, industry, and pilot research studies, including trial design, execution, control, and strategic growth of research mission of the Department of Neurosurgery, with special emphasis for support of trials within the brain tumor center and hemorrhagic Centers of Excellence within the Department of Neurosurgery.• Supervise the design, development and execution of designated clinical trials assuring compliance with the protocol and applicable regulatory requirements. This includes assisting in the procurement of space, supplies and related equipment; screening/enrollment of patients, data and specimen collection, analysis/processing and delivering diagnostic and therapeutic interventions; maintaining source documents; and completing reports to the institutional review board and other applicable regulatory bodies.• Develop and monitor study budgets to ensure that projects remain within budgetary allotment.• Prepare research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at conferences and workshops; and write project reports, articles, and other documents.• Coordinate the handling of study medication, supervise dispensing as appropriate and needed.• Write, edit and/or approve progress reports, technical reports, and journal articles.• Assist in the establishment of working relationships with potential sponsors and in the submission of detailed research proposals to governmental and private agencies.• Lead the operational component of constructing application and grant application for center and program-based grants (Pseries, SPORE, Bioscience Initiative, etc.)• Write and edit IRB applications as assigned.
