Manage planning and implementation of a three-week summer seminar aimed at providing U.S. and international University student training in leadership skills and international cooperation. For three weeks in July, 5 American men and women join with 20 students from a variety of developing countries and regions of social strife. The program, based at the University of San Diego School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES), focuses on creating an international community of college-age students to foster lasting friendships and acquire a practical understanding of a more peaceful future. Professor of record, Oxford Study Abroad Winter Programme, teach upper division and graduate courses on the conduct of American foreign relations, conflict and conflict resolution, globalization studies, national security, and homeland security. Instruct students in the art of writing a policy memo. Also teach an "Intercultural Dialogue" class for Army and Air Force ROTC students with international students as part of cultural competency training. Always rank within the top 10% of student evaluations. In addition, have lectured in the political science departments on national security at the University of San Diego, American government, politics and political analysis, and international relations at Cuyamaca College, and Introduction to American government at Grossmont College. Direct this institute that has existed since 1942 that involves a spring semester class (political science 393) which brings leaders from academia, policy-making, and the ambassadorial corps to give talks on current issues in U.S. foreign relations. Ambassadors come from U.S. ranks as well as the foreign diplomatic corps. Since 2005, lecture series themes have included, "Understanding Terrorism (2005)," "Understanding Globalization (2006)," and "In the Name of God: Religion in Ethnic Conflict, Terrorism and Genocide (2007). The 2008 series will address "Foreign Policy Challenges of the New Administration."

Worked with the CEO to develop executive leadership, conflict resolution and management training for corporations, governmental and non-governmental organizations. Traveled to Tokyo and Yokohama to make presentations on same to Nissan HQ and TUV Rheinland.

Designed, developed, and directed the Hansen Summer Institute on Leadership and International Cooperation, a three-week leadership course held in the summers of 2007-2009. Based at San Diego State University, this involved creating online applications for undergraduate foreign students and U.S. students based on U.S. State Department Standards. The Hansen Fellows, chosen in a competitive selection process, had all expenses paid by the Fred J. Hansen Foundation. 20 Fellows per year came from over 50 countries, and 10 Fellows per year came from local San Diego Universities. Students lived together in the dorms, learned together in the classroom though active learning and simulations with experts in conflict and conflict resolution, and experienced field trips to local leaders, businesses, and attractions to complete their training. Pre and post program evaluations took place to measure how the training impacted the participants, who remain in touch to this day via Facebook and email.

Began as the institute's development and external affairs officer, advanced to Director of Development and External Affairs, then Director of Special Projects, and finally, Director of Special Projects, Middle East Programs. Helped develop projects and programs on a wide range of international relations and international security issues across 9 campuses of the UC system. Represented the institute with the local and national press. Worked with Livermore and Los Alamos national laboratories, UC campuses, the UC Office of the President, DOE, DOD, NSF, and private foundations to help create fellowship programs, policy-oriented research projects, and track-two diplomatic exercises in North East Asia, South Asia, and the Middle East. Provided project management, stewardship, and direction to programs for the Middle East, running track two military meetings (two per year) from 2003-2006. Opened Washington D.C. office in 1997.

Developed and evaluated applications from students from the former Soviet Union for purposes of spending one year with American families as part of the Future Leaders Exchange Program funded by the U.S. Department of State. Served as an orientation leader in Moscow to prepare students for their year abroad, including students from Belorussia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. Prepared materials on cross-cultural education and competency.

Worked for six months in the Bonn for the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs at the Bundestag (Hans Stercken) and for another six months for the Governing Mayor of West Berlin (Eberhard Diepken). Also worked at the Aspen Institute Berlin with Shepard Stone and Dan Hamilton.
