Consulting on DSCSA (Drug Supply Chain Security Act) implementation and securing the pharmaceutical supply chain. I currently work with members of HDA (Healthcare Distribution Alliance) to understand the implications of DSCSA compliance. I was directly involved with the staff of members of the Senate and House of Representatives that wrote the DSCSA legislation. On May 1, 2008, I testified before the House of Representatives, Energy and Commerce congressional hearing on pharmaceutical supply chain security as the wholesale drug industry expert. In my consulting role I help organizations understand why the DSCSA law was written the way it was and how to conform to the requirements of the law.

Worked with the field operations management to improve operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. This role enabled me work closely the GS1 to help create GS1 Healthcare and become one of the first Tri-Chairs of GS1 Healthcare. I spent much of my time working on the development of RFID as a tool to improve pharmaceutical supply chain safety. Using McKesson Distribution Centers in Sacramento and Memphis and working closely with the FDA we pioneered the use of RFID chips for pharmaceutical products. We ran a real-world RFID supply chain tracing system between Pfizer and McKesson for over 3 years, which proved the effectiveness of RFID. It was this early work that allowed me to become engaged in working with Florida, California, and the US Congress to pass regulations to trace pharmaceutical products from the manufacturer through the wholesale distributor to the pharmacy. I spent a great deal of my time in the U.S. and internationally speaking on the need for increased pharmaceutical supply chain security.

Created and ran the consolidated financial services function for McKesson Drug Company in Carrollton, Texas as a result of leading the consolidation of FoxMeyer Drug Co into McKesson Drug Company between 1996 and 1998.

Valu-Rite Pharmacies Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of McKesson Corp.. At this time Valu-Rite Pharmacies Inc., was the largest voluntary chain of independent pharmacies with over 1,800 members. Many of the items that we ran in our monthly circulars were imported products and necessitated the creation of our own importing company, Tawn Company, which is described below.Tawn Company was the importing division of McKesson Corporation with internal customers like Valu-Rite Inc and national chains like Costco, Alberton’s, Walmart, Vons, Home Club and many others. Tawn Company was headquartered in Chino, Ca. with the offshore offices in Hong Kong.
