I believe that with the dignity of employment, youth can positively shape not only themselves but their broader communities. My introduction to the world of work came when I was 17, in the form of a job as a door-to-door encyclopedia salesman. That experience and several part-time jobs enabled me to begin building my future as a successful entrepreneur. Although it also took hard work and dedication, it was only possible because I had opportunity - an opportunity that sadly doesn't exist for everyone.

Recognizing this, I founded Education For Employment (EFE) to address the crisis of opportunity in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Though 60% of the MENA population is under 30 years old, it has had the world’s highest youth unemployment rate for the last 25 years; a systemic challenge that leads to societal instability and personal hopelessness. Through a network of local affiliates, EFE provides world-class soft skills and technical job training, connecting youth of the region to the world of work. EFE's impact has been widely recognized, within the region and in international arenas such as the World Economic Forum. As a result I have had the humbling honor of representing EFE as a Schwab Foundation Global Social Entrepreneur, a recipient of the Distinguished Advocate Award from the Anne Frank Center, and one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People.
