I was hired by the City of Miramichi as a consultant to coordinate the New Brunswick Festival of Tall Ships on the Miramichi. I presented the idea to city council in August 2012 and was hired in October 2012. This was to be the largest gathering of Tall Ship in New Brunswick history. The ships sailed up the Miramichi River and into Miramichi May 31 till June 2, 2013. I arrange and negotiated 8 tall ships, along with the Navy ship HMCS Summerside, and Theodore Tugboat. The event was very successful with over 20,000 visitors to the ships. The city estimates the economic spin off to be around $1.4 million. Also, help Downtown Charlottetown BIA get started.Strategic duties: • Effect a Business Improvement Area presence in Summerside and the first on Prince Edward Island by establishing, equipping and managing a BIA office in the downtown area.• Develop programs and build relationships to enhance the business opportunities of Downtown Summerside and area.• Attract and help sustain viable business enterprises to the downtown core.• Market the downtown as the place for potential business clientele to visit, shop, dine, play and stay.• Conceive, develop, implement and evaluate special events to promote the downtown area of Summerside.• Develop strong working relationships with all business enterprises (approximately 238), three levels of government, and literally hundreds of volunteers.• Inspire a high level of moral cooperation and a can do atmosphere within the business community.• Help develop the leadership skills of the business owners and employees within the BIA. Administrative duties:• Research and successfully acquire promotional grant monies from various Governmental agencies and private organizations. • Hire, administer, supervise and evaluate staff for various projects, on a term basis (have successfully hired and evaluated over 210 employees) and obtain over 1.5 million dollars to hire staff.• Purchase and control hardware and software as required to maintain modern business practices and carry out marketing projects.• Make monthly reports to the Board of Directors on operation and finance
