My earliest work experience was the care and maintenance of European cars. Being taught, early on by some of the best techs in the world, that good enough ISN'T good enough. That rigid adherence to perfection shaped the way I've approached my work ever since. My love for photography came roughly, a decade later. Seemingly, a perfect meld of technology and art. I decided to exchange bloody knuckles for something that could feed both passions. After attending Columbia College, I started assisting at a illustration & photography studio. There, I learned the nuts and bolts of commercial photography. I got a staff job in a small photo studio whose main client was the last of the Big Book catalogs. When that dried up, I started a freelance business that eventually, led me to Pirrello Perri Photographics. One of their majors was Ace Hardware. I had the knowledge of tools & techniques and my passion for photography, made for a perfect fit. Ace Hardware was also at the forefront of Digital Photography. They required all studios to submit only digital files. The learning curve was steep and fast. The constantly changing technology proved challenging, but clearly, was the future of every photo studio that wanted to remain a player. I was in position to be the lead on Ace Hardware and digital imaging for Pirrello. From there, I went on to become a senior photographer with Pirrello and developed digital workflows for our other clients. My mechanical and technical inclination drew me into all facets of digital imaging and pre-press. For the last two years I've been managing the staff, floor and equipment at PDI. I shoot to keep current and run the latest software and equipment to ensure smooth, trouble-free workflows...and because I still love it.
