My first seven years as a teacher were in a private Christian school in the USA. Along with teaching and coaching I also was the MS youth leader. In 1989 I went to Sanaa, Yemen with QSI International Schools for six years. Then I took a sabbatical year and completed my master's degree in Education. Immediately afterward I returned to QSI in Bratislava, Slovakia for three years. I then taught and coached for 5 years in Gervais, Oregon. I coached volleyball at the school and started a club team called the Panthers. In my final year the Panthers went 70 - 0. A great group of girls, including my daughter some of whom are still playing together in a city league. I also coached my son in soccer, baseball and his all time favorite, basketball.I returned to QSI in Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela where I had the opportunity to improve my Spanish. I continued to coach and even started diercting plays, and as I taught Literature and Writing, I wrote scripts for the Forensics competitions that were fun for our students to participate in. I have been teaching in China for the past six years. Thanks to the mentoring of Britt Brantley, became involved in administration. I was Middle School Co-ordinator for 4 years and the last two as Athletic Director for the Middle School. I have cotinued to teach and coach each year. My Secondary girls team has been to the ACAMIS finals each of the seven years I have coached here. We have won five of those including the last three years. In school year, 2013-14, I moved into the role of Athletic Director for both MS and Secondary. This was the first year I have not been teaching since 1981. As our school continues to expand here I will try and help the sports' program keep up. This year we have seen as many as six teams of middle school players out for some sports. Each team has games and tournaments scheduled and thanks to the awesome coaches has a meaningful sports' experience.
