Ron has over 30 years of applications, design, team building, technology management, strategic planning, investing, and business development experience as an entrepreneur with a focus on brushless motor systems used for motion control (including power generation). After working in the motion control industry for 7 years at Kollmorgen Ron co-founded Aspen Motion Technologies. At Aspen, Ron established and now manages the engineering and sales groups as well as the external manufacturers' representatives that support Aspen's sales efforts. At Aspen Ron is focused on tailoring permanent magnet brushless motor/generators, controls, and value added solutions for specific OEM applications over many markets. This focus spans over an extensive range of engineering expertise (electromagnetics, mechanical, electronics hardware, software, materials, reliability, and aerodynamics engineering).Ron enjoys starting the initial early stage concepts of a design, working with his team to bring the design thru life and field testings and, ultimately, transitioning the design into volume production.Ron feels strongly that companies should take every effort possible to manufacture domestically and make their manufacturing location decision based on the total cost of the design owner ship (ie inventory levels, lead times, transportation costs, quality, technology risk...) rather than automatically outsourcing the manufacturing overseas. Ron is named as an inventor on over 32 active patents (either issued or currently pending) which are focused on a wide variety of motion control and electromagnetics designs ranging from novel feedback systems to specialty magnetic couplings.
