About Ron Fort

I've been a futures broker most of my professional career and the largest part of that has been in energy. My book of clients have been commercial and involved hedging and proprietary trading with some options exposure. I was part of starting a retail power desk in late 2004, about a year before the arrival of Hurricanes "Katrina" and "Rita". The degree of volatility and risk attached to power procurement grew geometrically through late 2005/early 2006, and the unique array of skill sets I brought to the table enabled creating strategies that broke the forward power curve into its component parts, natural gas and heat rate. Given this transaparency and granularity, I was then able to manage each guided by technical analysis. the results were well received and material.Over the past 5 years the markets have matured with jurisdictional-specific issues adding different questions requiring different answers. The resulting challenges are what I enjoy and look forward to engaging in the search for new and "out of the box" answers, keeping what's worked and discarding what has become outdated.Specialties: Power price structuring,Forward curve analysis (technical), Risk management
