I have broad and in-depth experience with fermentation development and pilot-scale production - batch and fed batch, aerobic and anaerobic, E. coli, yeasts, and extremophiles. Have also led fermentation design projects, have performed or managed over three thousand fermentations, and interacted with clients from all over the world. Specialties include process and media development, recombinant protein expression, filtration and downstream processing, and fermentor control. Projects have included work with start-ups, pharmaceutical, biotech, and biofuel companies; academic institutions; and governmental agencies. Specific projects have involved production of non GMP pre-clinical pharmaceutical compounds; biofuels, biopesticides from yeasts; recombinant protein fed-batch design and implementation; generation of protocols; tech-transfer; and many others.
