Director, Communications And Business DevelopmentHampton Roads Transit Oct 2006 - Jul 2023Area Includes The Entire Hampton Roads Region To Include 17 Cities And Counties.This position is responsible for growing the Hampton Road Transit business through traditional and non-traditional means. Over the course of the last several years, Business Development was directly responsible for enhancing the company's revenue stream through the creation of an internal Sales team. This includes Sales, Advertising, and the Traffix Program. The Traffix program is a regional Transportation Demand Management program. It is a $1 million program financed by the region with the expectation of mitigating congestion and vehicle pollution by reducing the number of people who drive alone. Our goal is to help the military & employers create carpools, vanpools and teleworking is a key part of their program. I also work with the military, local governments; enterprise businesses, large and small businesses; colleges and universities; the military; and the health care industry.Additionally, I have supervised three key HRT departments at a time when they were needing leadership. In 2008, HRT's CEO asked me to help energize Metro Area Express bus service. In 2009, Customer Service was without leadership and supervision and needed help in creating a Strategic Plan for the future. This was a temporary assignment until such a time that the organization was put on a meaningful and strategic course, which included the hiring of a Customer Services Manager/Director in 2011.In 2012, I was asked to manage and lead HRT's Office of Communications. During this assignment, consolidation of the tasks of this office and creation of Communications Plan was completed prior to the hiring of a Director of Communications Director. Daily oversight of the functions of the Office of Communications and Marketing fell under Business Development until 2014 when a new Director was hired. -
