My passion is solving disputes because it involves learning about complicated and (usually) interesting problems, and then helping people manage risk. I’ve done that as a trial lawyer for over 30 years, and more recently as a mediator. A fair justice system is one of the two or three keys to a democratic society. For that reason, I have inolved myself in supporting the mission of our state and local bar associations. I am a past president of the Ohio State Bar Association and a past trustee of the Ohio Bar Foundation. I serve as a trustee of the Ohio Lawyers Assistance Program. I'm also a past president of the Akron Bar Association and a past Governor of the Akron Bar Foundation. These organizations do good (and often thankless) work throughout our state and in our communities to promote and improve justice.I also believe in commitment to community. A trial practice allows little time for community inolvment, but my commitments have been deep where and when I've been able to make them. I am a past chair of the Leadership Akron board of trustees. Leadership Akron is a vibrant and vital force in the Akron community. I’ve also served on a number of other community boards. Finally, I love golf! I play at Firestone and Fairlawn Country Clubs and am a past president at the latter.
