About Ron Liss

I have been a serial entrepreneur for more than 35 years in a number of industries including computing, importing and distribution, retail, and commercial real estate development. I am the president and founder of the American Patient Rights Association. All Americans are at serious risk of being harmed physically and/or financially when seeking medical treatment due to hidden problems in our healthcare system, including an epidemic of preventable medical errors in hospitals, the third leading cause of death, and financial harm caused by predatory medical billing, affecting one in five Americans and the leading cause of bankruptcy. I founded APRA (see americanpatient.org) after my mother died as the result of a preventable hospital medical error. APRA is a non-profit consumer organization for fair, safe, transparent and affordable health care. It was established to empower patients by providing information and tools to help them protect themselves from physical and financial harm when they seek medical treatment and to motivate hospitals and others in the medical industry to stop preventable patient harm. For me, every day is a new opportunity to invent and develop initiatives that will save lives or help people avoid personal bankruptcy due to medical bills.
