  Former owner of the Animal Hospital of Niskayuna, a full-service veterinary hospital accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association since 1946, a claim that only 9 veterinary hospitals in the United States can make. The Animal Hospital of Niskayuna was founded in 1936 as the Friderici Animal Hospital, and sold and renamed Niskayuna Animal Hospital in October 2020.In addition to conventional veterinary medicine and surgery, acupuncture and homeopathy are complementary practices available to patients. Dr. Ron Scharf is past president of the Capital District Veterinary Medical Society and past president (2011) of the Capital District Animal Emergency Clinic. Dr. Ron celebrated his 35th year reunion by Zoom with his classmates from the vet school at Cornell (Class of '85) in June of 2020.He can be heard several times a year on the local NPR affiliate station, WAMC, at 90.3 FM, or at WAMC.org, on periodic Wednesdays at 2:00 EST.
