Ron Shroder, FTI’s Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board, has more than 40 years of experience supporting the Department of Defense and other federal agencies through businesses that provide robust technologies and a highly talented workforce focused on enabling customers to make more informed decisions. These privately-held businesses have experienced remarkable growth while prioritizing support for the customers, employees and shareholders. Ron’s tenure of three decades with Frontier Technology Inc. (FTI) began in 1994 when he joined as Director of Decision Support. He progressed through various roles, including Vice President (2004) and President (2007), before assuming the CEO position in 2008. In 2015, he took on the additional role of FTI Chairman of the Board. Under Ron’s leadership, FTI has transformed from a small 15-person California engineering firm into a data analytics, technology and services company based in Dayton, Ohio, serving the Department of Defense with over 500 employees in 34 states.Prior to his career at FTI, Ron spent nine years at RJO Enterprises, starting in 1985 as the Director of Electronic Warfare Programs when the company consisted of just 20 employees. During his tenure at the company, he advanced to the role of Business Area Director for all Information Technology Programs, overseeing one third of the company’s operations. Over time, RJO Enterprises expanded into an 800-person organization dedicated to supporting federal agencies. Earlier in his career, Ron worked at Northrop Grumman, where he led the design of the ALQ-135 Electronic Countermeasures Systems for the F-15C and F-15E. He began his career as a government software engineer at Wright Patterson AFB, supporting the Air Force Laboratory on the F-16 Heads Up Display Missile Intercept Confidence Factor (MICF).Throughout his career, Ron and FTI received numerous awards. FTI was honored at a White House ceremony with the Small Business Administration Tibbetts Award for outstanding Federal Innovative Research. FTI has also been recognized by local publications as the Business of the Year for Community Support and named Best Places to Work from Ohio to California. Ron was nominated for Dayton’s Executive of the Year award and FTI was included on the Dayton Business Journal’s Top U.S. Department of Defense Contractors list. Ron has also testified before Congress on business innovation in both 2017 and 2019.

During that growth, Mr. Shroder evolved from Director, to Vice President, to his current role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chairman of the Board of the company owned by the employees. Currently, FTI’s focus is providing a Data Analytics Technology Suite to support FTI’s customers in the primary domains of Cyber, Space, Sustainment, DoD Health and Life Cycle Analytics. Mr. Shroder oversees FTI teams in nearly 30 states with the largest offices being in Goleta, CA; Dayton, OH; Norfolk, VA; Washington DC, Goleta, CA, Beverly, MA; Huntsville, AL; Los Angeles, CA and Colorado Springs, CO. He reported directly to the CEO of the company, Richard J. Otero. The IT business areas grew to one of three business areas within the company as the company grew from 20 people to over 800 employees.

Senior Systems EngineerNorthrop Grumman 1982 - 1985Falls Church, Va, UsMr. Shroder was the lead systems engineer on the design of the ALQ-135 Electronic Countermeasures Systems to protect the F-15C and F-15E. His focus was to understand the threat radars and to develop the hardware and software requirements to protect the air vehicle. The efforts included all hardware and software decomposition of the requirements and reviews of all detailed designs. In addition, Mr. Shroder’s understanding of the system positioned him to be one of the primary technical interfaces with the Government customers. -
