Providing Behavior-Based Safety Management Programs, Regulatory Compliance with OH&S Legislation, Emergency Response Planning and Training, Site Safety Audits, Inspections and Mentoring Programs. Serving as Corporate HS&E Liaison for North American Construction Group (NACG), Sims worked to build strong teaming relationships between NACG Project Management and their clients. Representing NACG in all facets of their operations including Site Development, Mining, Pipeline and Pilings, Sims strengthened his knowledge of heavy equipment operations and union employee rapport building skills.

Responsible for implementing strategic business objectives, managing internal and external marketing, PR, and sales teams, leading consultant and sales team development programs, developing and implementing safety and performance improvement plans for clients. Sims’ clients included Syncrude Canada, Ltd, Homestake Mining Co, Barrick Gold Corp, and North American Construction Group. Sims worked with heavy equipment operations teams to improve overall operational performance including safety, quality and production. Sims’ work was a significant contributor to North American Construction Groups reception of the Syncrude Canada, Ltd. President’s Award for Safety Excellence.

Responsible for providing performance management and safety consulting services to various industries, participating in the development of behavior-based consulting services, and working with account executives to expand business volume. Sims’ clients included CSX Transportation, Syncrude Canada, Ltd, Cooper Nuclear, Vermeer Equipment, Weyerhauser Corp and many others. Sims facilitated a performance intervention with CSX Transportation during a merger with Conrail to become the largest rail carrier in North America. CSX credits their performance initiative as a major factor in becoming an industry leader in rail transportation.

Responsible for leading Performance Management initiatives that returned a 22:1 ROI, developing and implementing Loss Control programs, developing and conducting leadership development programs, conducting internal loss control audits, inspections and developing comprehensive accident analysis, cost tracking, and safety and performance measurement systems. Sims managed HS&E programs for over 900 employees in an expansive open pit mining environment. The equipment fleet included; 178 haul trucks utilizing one of two trolley assist systems in the world, along with an extensive fleet of support equipment. The shovel fleet included both electric and hydraulic shovels from P&H, Demag and Hitachi. Additionally Sims was co-captain of an emergency response team with the most sophisticated rescue equipment available to the industry.
