I joined at a time when it was in a crisis situation having effectively failed accreditation in late 2000. There was a lack of focus, a lack of strategy and a real lack of leadership and accountability. In addition, there were significant environmental issues that had not been addressed. Further, the organisation was losing several million dollars per annum. Today the organisation has grown in line with its strategic plan, has significant cash surpluses, enjoys great relationships with its stakeholders and has a strong reputation for quality and service. RSL LifeCare has grown from two villages caring for 1,200 people to over 50 villages caring for over 7,500 people with 3,000 staff.
