At almost every grade level in school, teachers would always ask, "When you grow up, what do you want to be?" I am confident that not a single student would respond with "a mortgage banker."I began my career in the mortgage finance industry in 1998 as an Administrative Assistant, working my way up to the Director of MBS Administration. This position entails being knowledgeable in but not limited to securitization, mortgage servicing rights (MSR) valuation, hedging, data analytics with constant communication to third-party stakeholders and vendors, as well as government agencies related to securitizations.Timely delivery of critical data to our hedging advisory firm requires full attention to detail to ensure its accuracy, enabling our trading desk to make critical and rational decisions regardless of market movement. By creating and developing numerous reports, I single-handedly provide our company with key information to assist in evaluating the company’s health, performance, and position in the industry. Accuracy and commitment to protecting the interest of the company is always my number one priority—by discovering any discrepancies that may affect the company’s overall financial stance, I establish a solution to remedy the cause and maximize our bottom-line profit. As a leader, I have developed a system that has enabled my team to fully function with little to no assistance and attend to issues that may arise. Collaboration with key departmental individuals has allowed me to re-assess existing processes and implement improvements that allow room for flexibility without disturbing the integrity of the result. Communication is also an integral part of my position for all key parties to deliver consistent data and service to our warehouse facilities. I have the confidence to implement improvements in our processes as deemed necessary to streamline and eliminate details that may be found as irrelevant to our reports and/or department.My free time consists of volunteering in endemic forestry, reviving archaeological sites, and understanding their impact on the entire ecosystem because I believe it is our responsibility to restore our planet. I have actively engaged with brands that target eco-friendly initiatives including Coasts, Sun and Swell, Zero Waste Store, as well as organizations such as Maui Cultural Lands, Kipuka Olowalu, Leilani Animal Sanctuary, and H.A.R.P.
