Initiated Reach Out and Read at UMass. Coordinated on-boarding of practices, training clinicians, and implementation of the program.Reach Out and Read is a nonprofit organization that gives young children a foundation for success by incorporating books into pediatric care and encouraging families to read aloud together.The Reach Out and Read evidence-based program builds on the unique relationship between parents and medical providers to develop critical early reading skills in children, beginning in infancy. As recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, Reach Out and Read incorporates early literacy into pediatric practice, equipping parents with tools and knowledge to ensure that their children are prepared to learn when they start school. Reach Out and Read serves nearly 4.5 million children and their families annually. Reach Out and Read families read together more often, and their children enter kindergarten with larger vocabularies and stronger language skills. During the preschool years, children served by Reach Out and Read score three to six months ahead of their non-Reach Out and Read peers on vocabulary tests. These early foundational language skills help start children on a path of success when they enter school.Currently oversee the program at Hahnemann Family Health Center and conduct annual training for Pediatric and Family Medicine residents throughout the UMass system.

Overseeing contact tracing and other efforts to minimize impact of COVID-19 on UMassMemorial Health's workforce.

Clinicians who bill Medicare, Medicaid or CHIP and have a National Provider Identifier (NPI) are eligible to participate in the Southern New England Practice Transformation Network (SNE-PTN) free of charge. The network will support clinicians – from doctors to dentists to audiologists – to improve the health of their patients and financial health of their practices through technical assistance and shared learning opportunities. Participating clinicians will be better positioned for payment reform. The network is one of 29 practice transformation networks across the country chosen by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to be part of its Transforming Clinical Practices Initiative (TCPI). The collaborative is led by the University of Massachusetts Medical School and UConn Health.http://www.sneptn.org/

Created and led collaborative programs designed to improve the delivery of evidence-based care to patients with diabetes, hypertension and coronary artery disease. Worked with 19 primary care practices and the Diabetes Center of Excellence, reaching over 20,000 patients. The work involved development and implementation of multiple curricula, creation of patient care registries and supervision of a multi-disciplinary team.Led practice transformation activities across seven pilot academic primary care sites, including development of patient care registries, NCQA recognition as Level 3 Patient Centered Medical Homes at all seven sites, and implementation of value-based compensation plans.

Responsible for oversight of a Family Medicine clinical and residency site serving a low-income population (approximately 25,000 visits/year)

As a Peace Corps Volunteer, I taught science and math, helping students prepare for their O-Level and A-Level exams. I also developed a clinic to try to meet the health care needs of this underserved population.
