I am a former Army combat helicopter pilot with two tours in Vietnam. After my military service, I became a Los Angeles Policeman but retired after an injury sustained in a police helicopter crash. Afterward, I completed my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees; a Masters in Elementary Education and a PhD in Security Administration.My background includes a decade of mid-level management experience in several areas of the public and private sector. These include jobs as a School Principal, Corporate Manufacturing Director of Security, Private Guard Service Manager, and LVMPD Academy Training Manager.During the 1980s, I contracted as a counter-terrorism specialist to the Department of Energy. I was a member of an elite team of former Delta Force, law enforcement, and military tactics experts who conducted security audits and training at some of our nation’s nuclear facilities.I am a member of the Public Safety Writers Association and the Wednesday Warrior Writers group. I have been a contributing author to several anthologies, including recently “I Pledge Allegiance…” and “Felons, Flames, and Ambulance Rides.” My latest award-winning book is titled BEYOND RECOGNITION (Oak Tree Press), a memoir and expose’ about my experience as an LAPD Air Support pilot and the crash where I suffered 70% burns.
