Dr. Evens is President of MAPS 4 Biotec, Inc, his consulting company in Napa to biotechnology industry for strategy, planning, staffing, & operations of medical affairs groups for drug research, medical education, provider/patient services, and product launch. Clients have included Amgen, Amylin, Banyan, Bertek, Cheladerm, Oragenics, Nanotherapeutics, Pharmacyclics, Prevacus, and St. Charles. Dr. Evens is currently adjunct research professor regarding biotechnology clinical and business issues, at Tufts University School of Medicine, Center for the Study of Drug Development.Dr. Evens is invited lecturer at Northwestern University College of Medicine, for biopharma industry & biotechnology. He was clinical professor at University of Pacific teaching in area of biotechnology product development and marketing for 4 years.Previously at Amgen (13 years), he created & was Senior Director and Head of Professional Services Department with a staff of 140 and a budget of $40 MM, and also created the PeriApproval Research group for pipeline products. His work included clinical research, medical education, medical information, and executive management with 8 products and 7 professional groups. Before Amgen, Dr. Evens was Associate Director, Clinical Research & Medical Services at Bristol-Myers Co. (6 years); Associate Professor & acting Chairman of Department of Pharmacy Practice, University of Tennessee (3 years); and Associate Professor & Director of Drug Information Center, University of Texas at Austin and University of Texas Center for Health Sciences at San Antonio (7 years). Dr. Evens received a B.S. in Pharmacy at University of Buffalo, N.Y (1969). Graduate work was at University of Kentucky for both Pharm. D. & clinical practice residency (1971-74). Dr. Evens scholarly work has involved 150 national presentations and over 200 publications, including 15 book chapters and editorship of the book, Drug and Biological Product Development.
