To sum up my education and work experience... I came from a very disadvantageous position in life. Being from the hills of Appalachia, education, work and vocational opprotunities were not easy for me or my family. I quit high school, tried to work, support my family and survive. I recieved my GED in order to pursue my dream of a better life through education. I worked hard to support a family and go to college where I recieved my AA, BA, BS and ulitmately graduate from Medical School. I am the first person in my family to have ever graduated from college let alone become a physician. Although I have become a physician, life has not become so easy for me as I suffered horrible life changing and debiliating injuries in a car wreck in which I was literally run over and pinned underneath a semi-truck. I have learned more about medicine by being an un-insured patient than I ever did as a student in medical school.Throughout my journey, I have always made time for volunteer work which has led me around the world. I have run for the past 15 years a NGO which sends medical supplies as well as general humanitarian aid to the people of the Republic of Armenia.Life keeps me busy. One can never afford to become complacent when dodging one bullet after another, especially when they come from every heading on the compass...
