Theromics has developed a novel, safe, Thermal Accelerant (TA) called HeatSYNC to optimize thermal ablation of cancerous tumors. Microwave Ablation (MWA) and Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) are fast growing segments of the ablation market. They are both minimally-invasive, safe, low-cost, repeatable, and simple, biopsy-like procedures. HeatSYNC TA can augment the reach of thermal energy from a distance normally unattainable by a single device alone, thus high-power energy is not needed. This augmentation is controllable, based on TA dose, and TA can be deposited at the tumor site where it remains. Therefore, a precise amount of TA can be injected to a target area under image guidance in real-time to ensure complete and precise ablation. After successful animal trials, Theromics is poised to prepare for formal testing leading to an FDA submission. Typical cancer targets are liver, lung, kidney, and bone /soft tissue. In our work, we discovered that our gel could also act as a loco-regional drug delivery compound.We can combine most small-molecule oncolytics, sting pathway agonists, and other drugs or immunotherapies with our gel, which can then be delivered directly to a targeted lesion mitigating systemic side effects and controlling/concentrating the payload.The gel can be combined with thermal ablation for a One-Two punch to eradicate the lesion or used on its own.We have multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and have presented to the Society of Interventional Oncology and the Asian Tumor Ablation conference. The company is a winner in the M2D2 Challenge Cup and a member of the IMPACT Cohort.We have received SBIR funding from the NSF and private capital from institutional investors, strategics, and angels.
