About Ronald Schultz
I love reading, math, science, and engineering, so perhaps naturally I began my professional career as a scientist, doing research in biochemistry. Later, computer science seemed equally natural. I truly enjoy figuring out how things work or crafting elegant ways to solve problems. My last duties involved building data-based applications and database development. Quality web applications often require closely integrating web page programming with databases. Over time, I created a data mart with its own web-based user interface. Reorganizing a large, (mostly) normalized database into a dimensional data model allows us to reap substantial benefits in performance and usefulness. As an example, the data mart helped us synchronize internal company records with Salesforce, sometimes combining with commercial data to improve the final product. Using relatively simple SQL, we can find data issues such as duplications, mis-categorizations, and improper formatting -- supporting both automated and manual data cleanup.Of course, I didn’t do this alone; I love managers and co-workers who actively engage and ask the best of their teams. My dream job involves working with others who greet each day looking forward to doing something valuable and intellectually rewarding.
