A proficient, multidiscipline, subsea project engineer, with a broad background and ability, having recently migrated to offshore wind and cable installations. As a project engineer in the oil & gas sector I developed, delivered, installed and commissioned numerous riser, base spool and mooring line instrumentation packages for deepwater subsea installations. This consistently resulted in long-life systems successfully operating in the Gulf of Mexico, West Africa and Brazil.A self-starter, confident working independently, in teams, or as a team leader, I am comfortable in professional, shipyard and offshore environments. I eagerly take on new or unfamiliar tasks, succeed easily in multicultural surroundings and readily travel for extended periods. I thrive in a team that provides cost effective solutions for offshore oil and gas production.

When the Ocean Wind 1 project was abruptly canceled in November my contract position with Caldwell Marine was terminanated. Since that time I've been supporting the design of a new generation of support ships for the US Navy. However, I'm eager to return to subsea oil & gas and/or renewables e.g. offshore wind. I am available on short notice.

Subsea Project Engineer / Manager

Bmt

London, London, Gb

BMT supplied advanced subsea instrumentation systems to the offshore Oil & Gas sectorAs a project engineer in the subsea sector, I developed, installed and commissioned several riser, jumper base spool and mooring line integrity monitoring systems for deepwater developments in West Africa and the Gulf of Mexico (CLOV, Pazflor, Cascade, et. al.). These are multi-discipline projects that require knowledge of Subsea Umbilical, Riser and Flowline structures, dynamics, corrosion and materials, fabrication and coatings, etc. Being the technical lead I coordinated teams of six-eight engineers, designers and technicians, providing mentoring and guidance as required. The systems were consistently delivered in a safe, timely and cost effective manner to meet the client’s requirements. I represented my company at project kick-off meetings for multimillion-dollar contracts (Cascade, USAN, Egina), lead design reviews with EPICs and oil majors (Saipem, Subsea7, Total, Petrobras, etc.) and managed subcontractors worldwide. In addition to long-term missions to offshore platforms in the Gulf of Mexico and West Africa, I have passed weeks to months in fabrication yards in Indonesia and Nigeria and engaged in numerous offshore vessel operations. This has given me a hands-on, practical perspective which often proves valuable.

Post recovery / service I evaluated the acquired oceanographic data to determine location, heading, size and strength of GOM loop currents. These data were also provided to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management via the BOEM website.

May 2004 - May 2005

Ocean Engineer

Newport, Ri, Us

NUWC is a US Navy research, development, test and evaluation and engineering centerAT NUWC I developed and tested an Instrumented Tow Cable that employs principles of temperature dependent light scattering in an optical fiber (Distributed Temperature Sensing), to infer seawater temperature along the length of the cable, as it is towed through the water column. This work mandated managing several vendors and in-house technical staff to construct the system and verify its operating parameters. The portable system included winches, slip-rings and software for at-sea deployment and retrieval of the 1800-meter cable, and the valid data-acquisition. Once the system was tested and operational, I was technical lead for multiple sea-tests including two international military exercises and several scientific trials, successfully proving the technological feasibility.
